our philosophy

PLANTED cultivates a space for preschoolers to experience God’s presence by fusing systematic theology with the grand narrative of the Bible.

SYSTEMATIC THEOLOGY \\ Developmentally, preschoolers are continually exploring and processing new things by categorizing and creating structures to better understanding the world. They are busy forming ways to understand family, travel, food, colors, culture, love. They are also building a structure around God and spirituality. Our role is to ensure the integrity of that structure.

THE GRAND NARRATIVE \\ Traditionally, Bible curriculums are often story-based. The heart behind this type of curriculum is to teach kids about what is in the Bible. What a wonderful objective! We share that heart. However, we also believe spiritual education must go farther. By offering a step-by-step, systematic understanding of theology (the study of the nature of God), we give kids a full and trustworthy lens to view both the Bible and the world around them.

PLANTED combines systematic theology with the grand narrative of the Bible - the view that every story in the Bible is part of one big story God is telling. The story is about His plan to send the rescuer, Jesus, to bring people into His family and heal the world. Every story we tell is woven into this bigger story, pointing kids to Jesus throughout the whole Bible.

KIDS AS A CULTURE \\ Practically, we accomplish this huge task by viewing kids a mission field to be reached as part of the Great Commission (Matthew 23:16-20). Kids are a “culture” all their own; in many ways they speak a different language than adults, have different likes and dislikes, have different dreams and fears. Because of their moment in human development, they see the world in an entirely different way than adults do. By studying their specific kid-culture, learning their ways and language, we can articulate the Gospel to them in ways that resonate with their hearts.
